Malawi
Malawi is a small landlocked country in Southern Africa surrounded by Mozambique, Tanzania and Zambia. Although known as ‘the warm heart of Africa’ it suffers from drought & famine on a semi-regular basis (90% of the population are engaged in subsistence farming) as well as having one the highest AIDS rates. Life expectancy is now less than 40 years.
Christianity In Malawi
Malawi is largely seen as a ‘Christian’ country but in reality many Christians are nominal or influenced by traditional religions. They are in need of revival, especially in the face of Islam’s growth. We hope to have a role in discipling both within the Hope for AIDS program and also by our involvement in the local church. Christians in Malawi are our brothers and sisters in Christ, and we who have been so blessed materially have a responsibility to care for them – we are all part of Christ’s body.
